Asian Americans, Racial Trauma, Mental Health
Asian-Pacific FilmFest Laurel Wreath 2026
Kansas City FilmFest International Laurel Wreath 2026

SYNOPSIS

Asian American artists, politicians, scholars, and mental health professionals express grief, frustration, and anger triggered by the wave of Covid 19-related anti-Asian hate, and break the silence about the invisible history and reality of AAPI raced-based trauma in a Western mental health system ill-equipped to deal with it. Weaving together stirring personal testimony, historical analysis, and creative artistic expression, Invisibility and Rage illuminates the layered realities of racial trauma in AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) communities and reveals how systemic invisibility and stigma have shaped mental health outcomes for AAPIs. It highlights individuals and organizations working to transform care and access, and making space for AAPI voices to be seen, heard, and understood.
